Sustainability

#TeamFnP are currently working with a UK based supplier that is taking multiple conscious and passionate steps to ensure they run as sustainably as possible.

The are taking steps to maximise sustainability in all aspects of business. From, energy usage, production, materials, packaging and recycling. Lets take a look at what these steps are.

Energy Usage:

  • Clean, renewable energy is a vital tool to reduce negative impacts on the planet. Our suppliers manufacturing operations run on solar power and, in India, the factory owns two wind farms and a 150kw PV array. Renewable energy is affordable, reliable and something they are committed to using.
  • Within the factory, machine-to-machine communications technology allows the team to dynamically turn equipment on and off only when it is needed, balancing their manufacturing demand with on site generation.
  • All their factories are powered by renewable energy.

Production:

  • Print on demand production, means we can help to cut down on waste and overproduction by only making what customers need, when they need it.
  • High tech printing machines help to reduce the waste even further.

Materials:

  • Products are made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. Organically grown natural materials have more positive outcomes for the environment and the people working in it.
  • Organic cotton farming methods that are better for producers and the ecosystem around the farms. Instead of more toxic pesticides and fertilisers, co-planting and insect traps are used.
  • Our suppliers organic cotton is grown in the North of India where monsoon rains provide the water needed to grow the crop.

Inks:

  • Our supplier even synthesised a new chemical, to make sure they could have an organic, water-based ink that was compatible with their printers and the Remill process. It's more malleable than the synthetic polymers most brands use, it's essentially just pigment in water
  • These water based, low waste Ricoh liquid powder toner inks come in recyclable cartridges and packaging. They also conform to GOTS, Oeko-Tex and Soil Association criteria.

Water:

  • Wastewater from dye-house's is a major source of pollution in the clothing industry.
  • If our supplier does dye products the water is recovered, cleaned and recirculated.
  • After settling and skimming, the water is filtered using reverse osmosis and distillation. Salt is added back in so that the dye adheres and all the cruddy mulchy stuff left over is dried out and used for road markings.
  • About 95% of the water is recirculated and recovered.
  • At the end, the water coming out of the filters and going back round to be reused again is crystal clear.
  • Once it has been cleaned, it is then used at the input for the next batch. It is a closed loop system.

Packaging:

  • By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. We partnered with a supplier who cares about their impact on the planet. So, all orders are shipped in sustainable, eco-friendly packaging, designed with the environment in mind and made with natural materials. They are rip-proof, splash-proof mailers made from paper.
  • Big orders come in cardboard boxes, with paper-based tape.

Extras:

  • Monthly tree planting schemes sequester enough carbon to make the product life cycle net zero.

Remill:

  • Remill is a technology and service designed to keep perfectly good material in use. This creates a circular economy, by creating new products from old ones the loop is closed and waste is designed out.
  • All FishnPiff products have a QR code on the label. Simply scan here and be taken to instructions on how to return the items back to Remill.
  • Additionally, you can send back any other branded 100% cotton clothing items you have (excluding denim and underwear) in return will receive a Remill store credit, which can be used at selected stores.
  • Every product is designed to be returned back to Remill when it’s worn out. They make new products from the cotton material they recover. Recycled items form part of a circular economy. The world's first circular supply chain.

When placing an order please take into account the fitting of the product. Each shirt we print brand new and customised to your order. We highly suggest using the size guide to find your appropriate fitting.

2 million tonnes of textile waste is produced every year. 40% of all clothing production is never utilised. By using a print on demand model we are able to avoid adding to that number, by only producing what’s needed when it’s needed.

Our suppliers multiple certifications: GOTS, OEKO-TEX standard 100, OEKO-TEX Detox to zero, SA8000, FLOCERT, WRAP Platinum, Nordic SWAN, GRS, IGBC Green Factory
